Question by jljacobs: How to explain to friends my legal stuff when I go back to college in August?
I know that it will be different, since everyone claims I have changed so much since last spring. Right after school was out, I got a DUI and some drug charges. I am on probation now and have to go to counseling one day a week and can’t really drive anywhere. In addition, the media put my story out there and all so its out there. I was wondering how to explain it to friends whenever they wanna go to the bar/pub next door to campus (close enought to be on campus) and I have to tell them that I can’t go to anywhere that serves liquor (ex. Chili’s, TGI Fridays, Bennigan’s, bars, clubs, etc) because it is a part of my sentence. I just want to blend in, not “fit in” and get my life back. I didn’t kill or hurt anyone, luckily. I just want to get back to “normal” and be my old self again. I know I will never be the same though as far as my heart and my mind since I have been asked about having ptsd over the incident.

Be yourself. Tell the the truth if you wish. Or tell them nothing at all. The point is that you are the important part of the equation not what your friends will think.
